"Roques al Carrer" Open Geology Museum
Locatie en contact
The "Roques al Carrer" Museum in Andorra la Vella is formed by different specimens of sedimentary, igneous, metamorphic rocks and high-quality fossils from Andorra, accompanied by a panel with explanations.
The aim of this museum is to highlight the value of the world’s geodiversity as well as Andorra’s geological heritage by observing and analysing the natural elements present in our surroundings.
This museum is divided into three segments, all located in easily accessible urban areas:
Rock garden
The rock garden is found at the entrance to Parc Central. There, you’ll find a group of the most common rocks in Andorra, with an information panel that explains details about these rocks as well as how they were or are used: construction, buildings, etc.
Geological route
The second segment is a route with 35 stops, each of which also features an information panel, starting at Carrer Prat de la Creu. The route runs along various streets in the parish, allowing you to explore in detail every rock that makes up each building or construction.
Granite architecture route
Lastly, there is the granite architecture route, which begins at Plaça Príncep Benlloch and also runs along several streets in the parish. The route has a total of 10 stops with different buildings that all feature this architectural trend. With this route, you’ll get a better idea of the importance of granite in Andorra.
The granite architecture route is done in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cultural and Cooperation’s Inventory and Conservation Department.
