The Camí de Costa Seda path, in the shadiest part of Santa Coloma, which lies behind Enclar, is where iron was extracted from La Margineda in the past and where a Romanesque bridge dating from the 15th century is found.
The route begins at La Margineda roundabout (main road, kilometre 4), in the parish of Andorra la Vella, bordering the parish of Sant Julià de Lòria. Cross thes medieval bridge, the largest and narrowest one preserved in Andorra. With a length of 33 metres and a single arch spanning 9.2 m, the bridge is built over the River Valira, the country’s main river. Next to the bridge is a modern sculpture, the work of the Valencian artist Vicenç Alfaro, which represents the past and present of Andorra and consists of two arches.
Go up the Ral de l'Obac path parallel to the Valira river in a northerly direction until you reach the Font Freda and, further up, the start of the Camí de Costa Seda path. The path between birches and pines takes you to the Collet de Costa Seda pass. This is an idyllic place populated by butterflies of all colours, and the route is much appreciated by mushroom foragers.
For your safety, we recommend doing all routes above 1700 metres between the end of June and the end of September. Weather and terrain conditions permitting, however, the season can run from May to October.
