Borda de Sorteny refuge, located at an altitude of 1,965 m in Vall de Sorteny Nature Park in the parish of Ordino, boasts spectacular views of this protected natural space where you can enjoy a variety of activities. Whether it’s summer or winter, the Nature Park is home to an extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna. During the summer-autumn season, Borda de Sorteny refuge is open from June to 30 September and every weekend in October. During the winter-spring season, it is open from December to April. Juclà refuge, sitting at an altitude of 2,310 m alongside the dam on the lake of Estany Primer in Vall de Juclà, is accessed via Vall d’Incles, where vehicles can be left in the car park at the bottom of the valley. The route on foot begins at the bridge of Pont de la Baladosa. The refuge is built of natural stone and first opened its doors in 1990. It is staffed from June to September, during which time it offers food and accommodation. Like the other staffed refuges, there is also an area that remains open and free to access throughout the year.

Illa refuge, located near the lake of the same name, is the newest and highest refuge in Andorra, perched at an altitude of 2,488 m. Built on the foundations of the old Illa refuge, which had open access, it is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site and cultural landscape of Vall del Madriu-Perafita-Claror Nature Park. As well as providing permanent shelter, the refuge also offers food and accommodation during the summer and winter seasons. It is closed from May to the start of June and from 1 November to 1 December, although there is an area that remains open and free to access during these periods.
Sitting at an altitude of 2,260 m, Comapedrosa refuge is located in Comapedrosa Nature Park, which takes its name from the tallest peak in Andorra. The refuge is open from the start of June to mid-October. As it is located in an area of avalanche risk, the refuge is closed in winter. The services available include food (mountain cuisine) and accommodation. The usual access route on foot leaves from the car park in the Arinsal sector at the Pal Arinsal ski resort, where you take the trail leading up to the lake of Estany de les Truites.

These four staffed refuges are located at the waypoints of various mountain trails (GR, GRP and GRT) and serve as start and end points for different stages on the Coronallacs circular route. They also form part of the Entrepyr network: a cross-border initiative that facilitates routes across the Pyrenees by promoting staffed refuges.
Enjoy a truly unique experience high up in the mountains of Andorra!
For safety reasons, we recommend that all routes above 1,700 m should be done between the end of June and the end of September. Weather and terrain conditions permitting, however, the season can run from May to October. Regardless of the time of year, you must always make sure you have the correct equipment.
