The aim of this seventh exhibition held by the Carmen Thyssen Museum, which is located on the ground floor of the old Hostal Valira in Escaldes-Engordany, is to explore the importance of colours, people’s individual perceptions of them and their association with various states of mind.
“Khrôma. The Emotional Universe of Colour” is made up 34 works by artists from the 19th century through to pop art and the contemporary scene. The six different colour groups on which the exhibition shines its light – dark colours, red, orange, green, blue and polychrome – each recreate their own monochrome before merging into a general communion that brings to life the links between all the works.
The paintings on display feature a Kandinsky (Murnau: Houses in the Obermarkt), as well as works by many other creators, including Britain’s John Atkinson Grimshaw (Canny Glasgow), America’s Alec Monopoly (Private Jet), Germany’s Ernst Wilhelm Nay (Polychrome), China’s Wang Guangyi (Pepsi, from the Great Criticism series) and France’s Masaya (1002#).
Place and dates: The exhibition “Khrôma. The Emotional Universe of Colour” will be open to the public from 10 February this year until 7 January 2024 at the Carmen Thyssen Museum of Andorra in the old Hostal Valira in Escaldes-Engordany.
You can find full details about the exhibition, how to buy tickets and all the activities planned to be held around the art show on the Carmen Thyssen Museum of Andorra website.
