Church of Sant Cristòfol d’Anyós
Location and contact
Its site gives us a view of the valley entrance at Escaldes-Engordany and the villages of Sispony, La Massana and even as far as Ordino. The building is from the 12th century and retains part of the original Romanesque structure that has been extended and modified several times. Before the 1930s, its interior was decorated with Romanesque mural paintings which were later pulled down. Now there is a picture of the Last Supper from the 13th century Franco-Gothic, surrounded by pictures from the 16th century representing the passing of the souls of St Michael and the image of St Chistopher, the patron saint of the Church, showing different scenes of the saint’s life and miracles.
