Church of Sant Martí de La Cortinada
Location and contact
Erected in the 12th century and extended in the 17th and 18th, it preserves the mural paintings of the Master of La Cortinada (late 12th century). In baroque times the church was extended, the nave was turned and the new high altar was decorated with a multi-coloured wooden altarpiece from the 17th century dedicated to the patron saint of the church. The side chapels also have baroque altarpieces dedicated to Our Lady, St Anthony Abat and Our Lady of the Rosary. The wrought iron bars, the 17th-century wooden furniture and the confessional are other important elements in the church.
Around the church we will find other elements of civil architecture such as the Cal Pal Mill and Saw Works, as an example of small traditional industry, or the Cal Pal stately home with its singular white watchtower.
Free entrance. Guided tours from mid-July to mid-September. The Church of San Martí de la Cortinada also lies on route 6 of Andorra Tourist Bus, from June to Septembre.
