Routes in Andorra for hikers

If you like trekking, Andorra is perfect for you.

When the white of the snow gives way to the green of the forests, the perfect time has arrived to take excursions in Andorra. The Pyrenean Country can be covered without limits via trails, forest paths, and small thoroughfares, which offer countless proposals for hikers, cyclists and many other active tourists. We have gathered the best ideas so that you can choose the one for you, according to your level or the area you want to visit.

Our country has countless trails that will lead you to discover its nature and customs, as part of itineraries that include information panels, huts and sign-posts. If you wish to keep this jam-packed list of routes with you, you can download the Andorra Hiking Guide in PDF format or get one from any of our tourist offices.

Every information sheet on this page provides you with a descriptive map of the route, as well as its level of difficulty, and other practical information: distance, elevation, duration, etc. A brief description of the route will help you get to know its main attractions and interesting facts, as well as the services of interest to all hikers. Furthermore, you can download the track in GPX format so that you don't get lost along the route.

Cycling and other ways to discover Andorra

Pedalling is another healthy way of discovering the culture and landscapes of Andorra.

We've made it easy for you: we have gathered the best routes for cyclists, be it on the road or BTT forest paths and trails. In the case of road cycling, our ideas will take you through some of the most mythical ports of the Pyrenees, usually part of the Tour de France or the Vuelta a España. And if you prefer the mountain bike, these itineraries will let you discover our natural parks and forests from within.

The routes proposed on this page don't stop there. Many other itineraries of a very different kind flow through the Andorran mountains. For example, vertically: our natural walls offer scores of via ferrata and climbing routes for all kinds of levels. Or horse-riding routes: different active tourism companies provide this service on the back of this noble animal. If you want to be guided through the waterways, check out the ideas for canyoning or fishing. For further information on this activity, check out the Mountain Guide.

Accommodation adapted for hikers

In Andorra, we take care of the hikers that plan their routes in Andorra.

That's why hotels adapt their offer to travellers' needs. If you are going to do a stage on foot, you can choose the mountain accommodation that suits your requirements.

There are manned refuges, which essentially are rural houses or mountain constructions that offer all the services you could possibly need: breakfast, lunch and dinner in their restaurant café, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, heating and all facilities provided by quality accommodation. If you're talking about a high-mountain route and long-distance trail, you may need to use our unmanned refuges. These are located in privileged natural environments, although with very difficult access. That's why they have no reception and don't offer regular hotel services.

And if you are a cyclist, you should know that many of our accommodations can be considered bike-friendly, as they adapt their offer and facilities to guests just like you. In this sense, meal varieties and times are more extensive, and spaces are provided for storing your bike overnight, washing it during the day and even making some small adjustments and repairs.
