The parish of Encamp is full of magnificent lakes of glacial origin and magnificent landscapes strewn with blocks of granite. This trail, which requires a good sense of orientation and a good level of agility, will allow you to discover some of them.

Your walk will start at the end of the Cortals d'Encamp road where the Funicamp intermediate station is located (NA2 32.365 E1 37.961).

From there, after crossing a wooden gate on a track, a hundred meters further on, you will turn right towards the river Les Deveses which you will follow upstream after crossing a small wooden bridge to the Emportona sheepfold (N42 32.231 E1 39.225). Always pay attention to the yellow beacons and the information posts on the Orris trail.

After a large wooden stake indicating the sheepfold, you will turn right. Be careful! The trail is no longer marked but rather indicated by cairns (stacks of stones). You will gradually gain altitude until you reach a small lake, then climbing along the ridge to the right to the largest lake with transparent waters of Meliogar (N42 31.922 E1 39.485).

On this trail, you may have the chance to hear and see birds such as the northern wheatear, the water pipit and the black redstart.

Due to the difficulty in following the trail sometimes, it is recommended to know the route before doing it, or to go there accompanied by a mountain guide.

For your safety, we recommend doing routes above 1700 m between late June and late September only. The season runs from May to October if the weather and ground conditions are good.
