This resort is on the border with France. The ski area was formed in 2003 when the two oldest ski resorts in Andorra and the Pyrenees joined together: Pas de la Casa - Grau Roig and Soldeu - El Tarter. Today, Grandvalira resort has 7 different sectors: Canillo, Soldeu, Pas de la Casa, Encamp, El Tarter, Peretol and Grau Roig, with six access points along the road towards France.
The variety of activities to choose from is incredible: from the more traditional skiing and snowboarding, to freeskiing, off-piste skiing and even heli-skiing, these activities allow you to wind through wild paths and reach the peaks by helicopter. More experienced skiers can also do freeriding – a type of off-piste skiing – or freestyle as the resort has several areas set up for this activity.
But if you want to go one step further, there’s the Freeride Center, with areas specially set up where you’ll be able to perfect this discipline!
Finally, if you like competition, there’s also the Race Center, where you will not only be able to put your skills into practice, you’ll also be able to time your descents down the center’s competition race track (FIS)! However, if you want to improve your technique, you can also take advantage of training with professionals from high-level clubs!
There are three snowparks where those who prefer snowboarding and freestyle skiing can perfect their moves with the Freestyle School, put what they’ve learnt into practice and enjoy some real thrills. The first is El Tarter Snowpark, the second is Snowpark Sunrise Park Xavi by Henrick Harlaut in Grau Roig and the third is Sunset Park Peretol by Henrick Harlaut ; the latter, at Bordes d'Envalira in Canillo, is suitable for users with a medium-high level and is the only one to offer night-time schedule until 9 pm. You’ll be able to enjoy more non-stop freestyle time!
There are also opportunities for ski touring, with 10 marked trails for use by all levels free of charge. You will find 4 in the Grau Roig sector, 1 in the Pas de la Casa sector, 1 in the El Tarter sector and 3 in the Soldeu sector and a final one in the Encamp sector. It also has a night-time ski slope: the Solana/Tubs slope in the Pas de la Casa sector, suitable for all skiers.
