If you like walking in the mountains or following hiking routes, we suggest changing your shoes for some snowshoes and venturing into the Ordino Arcalís forests.
Discover the hidden corners of the resort while enjoying the most beautiful scenery: admire the snow-capped mountains.
Snowshoe circuits
Ordino Arcalís currently has three off-slope snowshoe routes to ensure your safety at all times.
These routes can be done alone, following the trails marked out by the resort, or accompanied by a specialist guide.
3 circuits to discover the station
Spread over the woods of the resort, you will have several options to choose from according to your preferences:
Departure to the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint
During this two-hour excursion, you will travel through the entire area of the spectacular Tristaina Solar Viewpoint. During the route you will not only enjoy panoramic views over the whole valley, but you will also be able to see the fantastic sundial raised to more than 2700 m above sea level. This departure takes place only on Sunday mornings, from 10:30 am.
Excursion to the Port del Rat
During a two-hour itinerary you will discover La Coma, one of the most symbolic places in the resort. You will contemplate unique places as you walk the snowy paths through the middle of the mountain. Departure to Port del Rat takes place every day of the week - except Sundays - from 10:30 am.
Mountain Adventure
If you are an adventurer this is your choice. With Adventure on the Mountain you will feel like a real Eskimo. Not only will you be able to explore the snowy landscape of the resort, but you will also complement your excursion with an ingenious activity and team collaboration: you will have to build your own igloo! This activity lasts 3 and a half hours: two hours for the excursion and one and a half hours for the activity and is perfect for families (children from 12 years old). The Adventure on the Mountain outing takes place every day of the week, from 10:30 am.
Explore the Sorteny Valley
For all those who are more expert and want an extra adrenaline rush, you cannot miss the guided excursion to one of the most symbolic places in the parish, the Natural Park of the Vall de Sorteny. With the help of Grandvalira Mountain guides (GMG), you will be able to walk these high-level trails safely. In addition, throughout the tour you will be able to observe the great variety of flora and fauna present in the park.
Evening excursions with high mountain dinner
Finally, if you want to go one step further and enjoy a special night, combine your snowshoe or skimo excursion with a dinner at 1965 m altitude! On Thursdays, and on full moon days, you can go up to the Sorteny refuge and enjoy a succulent dinner in the warmth of the hut. After dinner, you can choose between going back down or extending your night and spending the night in the shelter.
The minimum age for snowshoeing is 8 years.
