Services
Location and contact
This manned shelter, located at 1,965 metres above sea level, is open in summer/autumn from June to 30 September and at weekends in October, and in winter/spring between December and April. It has five rooms that can accommodate up to 40 people and is located inside the Sorteny Valley Natural Park. The refuge offers mountain cuisine, both in the indoor restaurant and on the terrace. It has the usual facilities of this type of accommodation (bunk beds, mattresses, bed linen, showers, toilets, telephone, radio, etc.) and has mobile phone coverage.
It is the most accessible of the manned shelters in Andorra, as you can get to it by car from El Serrat, taking the junction that leads to the Sorteny Valley Natural Park to the car park at the end of the road. It is about a 30-minute hike from there to the refuge, along an easy trail with about 200 metres of elevation gain. During the two months when the refuge is closed (May and November), there is an unmanned area that can accommodate eight people.
The Borda de Sorteny refuge is a waypoint on the ARP (Alta Ruta Pirenaica) and the GRP (Andorra) trails and one of the starting/end points of the circular Coronallacs trail.
It is also part of the Entrepyr network, a cross-border project that facilitates treks in the Pyrenees by promoting manned shelters in French, Spanish and Andorran territories. Bookings for all affiliated shelters can be made directly through the Entrepyr website.
