After the church of St. Jaume dels Cortals, around 500 metres on from a bend in the path, on the right-hand side you will come to a cabin and a wooden sign indicating the Ensagents trail. Continue along this trail, which soon ventures into a forest of black pine, until you come to a clearing where you will see a stone enclosure for livestock. At the end of the clearing there is a crossroads, with signs for the Pas de la Clau trail and Ensagents trail. Make sure you continue along the latter, which leads off to the left and once again ventures into the forest. After a while, the trail emerges from the forest and you will see a large stone wall. Continue making your way along the trail, which zigzags upwards until reaching the foot of a large stone wall on the left. At this point, if you continued to follow the trail, you would reach the Ensagents refuge just a few minutes later.
However, our route now changes direction, and you need to make your way along the track – which is not particularly evident – that leads off to the right, directly towards the river. Cross the river and make your way up the side of the patch of rocky ground that lies to your left. A number of boundary stones will help guide the way. You will come to a small hill, to the left of which is a pond that is usually dry during the summer months. Continue making your way along the trail until you reach the shore of Lake Moreno.
The lake is dominated by the majestic silhouette of the Crestes del Gargantillar and Pic dels Llops, which are perfectly reflected in the still waters.
